Assigned to the Division of Mining And Reclamation, Inspection and Enforcement Section. Under administrative direction at the advanced level, responsible for coordination, evaluating and monitoring activities of Environmental Inspectors-In-Training and/or Environmental Inspectors. Training new and/or inexperienced Environmental Inspectors-In-Training and/or Environmental Inspectors and assist in complex/technical sampling and investigations for permits located in Boone, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Wayne counties. Authority to inspect and/or issue notices of violation and/or cessation orders and to follow up violations with established procedures. Assist the environmental inspector supervisor in most areas of responsibilities and be a liaison between the inspection staff and the Environmental Inspector Supervisor. Represent the agency at various hearings, meetings, and court cases. Track all paperwork required in this position and other related work as necessary.

Duties required travel and outside work in varying weather conditions and required walking over rugged terrain. Subject to emergency response, being on call and have temporary assignments made to a different geographic area of the state, as necessitated by environmental conditions and agency needs. Required to participate in the helicopter over-flight program for the unit. Able to effectively communicate orally and writing with the private and public sector and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Performed aerial drone flight inspections and training as a certified FAA sUAS Remote Drone Pilot as needed for WVDEP, WVDNR, MSHA and other State or Federal agencies. Certified to conduct blasting inspections and training new and/or inexperienced Environmental Inspectors-in-training and/or Environmental Inspectors.
