I was hired in July of 2015 as a Firefighter/EMT with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department. My roles included but were not limited to fire suppression, operating fire apparatus, rescue, HAZMAT and performing patient care as an EMT prior to arrival on local ambulance service arrived on scene and took lead on patient care. I obtained my Paramedic License in August of 2019 and then was promoted in February 2020 to the rank of Master Firefighter. Beyond normal roles as a Master Firefighter/Paramedic, I have also been a department member of the Region E Homeland Security Response Team, the Departments PPE/SCBA committee performing research and maintenance on equipment. I am also a member of the Departments Unmanned Aerial Systems team as a FAA certified UAS pilot operating drones for fire and rescue operations.

Started as a part time EMT working four-six 24 hour shifts a month from February 2013-March 2014, then went to the status of a full-time EMT with the district. Working as an EMT I provided patient care alongside a Paramedic. Dependent upon patient needs, I provided primary patient care during transport or operated the apparatus en route to the Emergency Department. Gained valuable experience and knowledge as I started my career as an EMT.
