I've lived in the small, quiet town of Litchfield, Minnesota almost all of 24 years since I was born. When I was young, mathematics was a subject of obsession. I found out around middle school that I was better off branching out, so I began participating more in extra-curricular activities where I could enjoy the outdoors. Football taught me many life lessons, some of which were determination, work ethic, time management (balancing watching film an hour or two a night with school projects and homework), and learning from loss at pivotal games. I discovered the satisfying sport of shot put as a junior in high school. Hanging out at throwing practice reinforced the value of having a drive to improve. Competing with my high school's best ever shot-putter drove me to stay after practice and throw by myself until I felt fatigued. Since graduating high school I have branched out tremendously, using my time to read, learn history, and dive deeper into a number of interests. I was, and continue to be a studious person. I am eager to learn new things.
