Noel S. Monat

As Music Department Chairperson at New Hyde Park Memorial High School for over eleven years, and District Coordinator for eight years, my responsibilities include curriculum development, staff hiring, professional development, and classroom observations for five grade seven through twelve buildings, four music department chairpersons, and over twenty one music educators. In addition, I have coordinated all events surrounding District and All County Music Festivals including but not limited to training of staff and students, transportation to and from events, and managing the district music budget.

My experience also includes successfully organizing NYSSMA and District Music Festivals for any and all students wishing to further their excellence in music education and experience. All of these experiences have required extreme organizational skills, a collaborative spirit, and excellent communication skills.

In addition to my eleven years as a Chairperson and Coordinator of Music for the Sewanhaka Central School District, I have proudly served as a music educator and teacher for both general education students as well as special education students as a band director and classroom music teacher. My bands have received Gold, Gold with Distinction, and Silver awards regularly at the NYSSMA large ensemble and individual solo festivals as well. I strive to provide an environment of excellence, while maintaining a positive and nurturing experience for each of the students that we serve.

In summary, I am a passionate and devoted teacher and administrator with a continued focus on improvements in both the music education of my students as well as my own professional development.
