Noel Ouellette

A passionate avocational paleontologist with well over a decade of firsthand experience collecting and studying fossils, actively working toward a career as a professional. Love for science education stems from a desire to share knowledge and inspire the next generation, manifesting in interactive fossil talks and displays in science centers, libraries and classroom settings. Field experiences in the fossil rich lands of the American West, especially within the Hell Creek Formation of Montana, have included highlights such as prospecting a previously unexplored ranch, sampling its microsite localities (May, 2023), along with assisting in the excavation, jacketing and removal of a Triceratops skull (June, 2022). A B.A. in Geology, with a minor in Studio Arts are nearing completion at Allegheny College, with graduation scheduled for May 11, 2024.

• Inaugural student researcher chosen for the Paleontology in the Parks Fellowship, a collaborative project between the National Parks Service and Paleontological Society. Compiled data on coastal fossil resources in NPS administered properties.
• Presented senior research project on Hell Creek Formation microsite fossils at Sigma Xi Conference at Penn State Behrend (April 2024).
• Presented poster on the Paleo in the Parks research at the annual Geologic Society of America conference in October, 2023 and at the Great Lakes Student Paleoconference in November, 2023.
• Maintains active presence on Instagram and The Fossil Forum (@PaleoNoel), connecting with other people with similar interests from across the globe.
• Displayed and discussed fossils at the Edinboro Elementary School Science Fair (Mar. 2024).
• Created infographic paleoart discussing common fossil marine invertebrates of Pennsylvania and surrounding regions for Allegheny's 4th Graders as Scientists Program (Mar. 2024).
• Multiple paleoartworks featured in Allegheny College Art Galleries and the Meadville Public Library (2022-23).
• Provided interactive fossil displays at SEE Science Center in Manchester, NH (Jan. 2016, Dec. 2022 & Jun. 2023).
• Paleo talks with fossil show-and-tells at Andover Public Library (OH) (Nov. 2022) and Meadville Public Library (PA) (Apr. 2023).
• Presented on ancient life and displayed fossils to 3rd grade class at Moharimet Elementary School, Madbury NH (Jan. 2020).
