I have a strong background in Visceral Surgery and Coloproctology, having graduated from Geneva University Hospital in Switzerland after seven years of training. I work as a consultant in the Colorectal Unite at Hamad Medical Corporation, where I also lead the General Surgery Residency Program. This program is accredited by ACGME-I, an international organization that sets standards for graduate medical education.
I have always been passionate about Clinical Governance and its role in improving the quality of patient care. In my posts, I have actively contributed to this process by identifying areas of improvement and implementing new strategies to achieve excellence in service provision. I have also maintained a high standard of communication with medical colleagues, patients, and especially General Practitioners, by dictating and sending letters / discharge summaries promptly. As a member of the Lower GI cancer Team in Hamad Medical Corporation, I have participated in the multidisciplinary management of patients with colorectal cancer and other lower GI malignancies. As a member of the Medical Professional Education Chapter committee in Hamad Medical Corporation, I have been involved in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of educational activities for medical professionals. I have also chaired the committee of Qatari Board Specialization Exam, which is responsible for assessing the competence and knowledge of candidates for board certification in various in general Surgery. Additionally, I have served as a program director and a member of the residency evaluation committee, which oversees the training and development of residents in different fields.
I am honored to serve as the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Hamad Medical Corporation, which is accredited by ACGME-I (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International). This program offers a comprehensive and rigorous training in general surgery, with exposure to various subspecialties and research opportunities. As a surgeon and an educator, I have always been passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of surgeons. I have delivered formal lectures, bedside teaching, case-based discussions, and small group teaching to medical students and junior colleagues throughout my career. I also have a special interest in colorectal surgery and I have trained several colorectal fellows who have gone on to become successful consultants in their fields.
