Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy, and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care.
Responds to calls for fire, medical, hazmat, rescue, and other natural and/or man-made emergencies. Provides immediate lifesaving care while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. Maintains competence in specialized training required for specialty unit assignments; participates, develops, and leads training drills/classes; maintains readiness to respond to high-risk/low-frequency incidents; maintains recertification. Conducts Community Risk Reduction: public service calls, customer surveys, recruiting events, blood pressure checks, home safety surveys, smoke detector instillation, fire plans, community meetings, school events, fire safety talks, and apparatus displays.
