City of Santa Fe Summer Youth Program Su
As a supervisor for the summer youth program, my primary function was to oversee the entire site and make sure staff as well as the participants were following all policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe and productive site. It was my job to plan activities for the three individual groups of children ranging from the ages 6-12. Everyday plan, manage and coordinate the assigned activities and programs and well as guide and provide leadership for the staff and participants. Every week their consistent schedule needed to be followed every single day which helped assure the activities are being followed. My job was to not only create the schedule and planned activities but also to consistently make sure that this schedule was being implemented. As a supervisor it is also my duty to help train the other staff to show them how to handle certain situations. When a variety of different incidences happen, it is my duty to problem solve and handle the situations rationally and calmly. When working with kids you must handle every situation uniquely because there are problems ranging from behavior, first aid, family issues, etc.. All incidents must be documented and reported back to my supervisor in a timely manner and together we were to decide on the action taken in each manner. The entire facility that we used was to be cleaned every day which required me to manage who cleaned what but to also take part in the cleaning every single day. This helped to maintain a safe environment for the kids to come into every morning. Lastly, I feel the most important is the communication with parents and guardians of all children. Every morning and afternoon we would communicate if there were any issues or concerns to parents that day which helps resolve any problems.
As a merchandise and concession seller, my primary function was to sell clothing and food to people who attended baseball games. As the supervisor, I had to regulate my staff and productivity in the concession area. I was also in charge of handling money before and after the games.
