Olivia Quiros

I worked in an Ecology laboratory in August 2024 to May 2025. Some of my duties included counting seeds, planting seeds, harvesting pollen anthers, counting dyed pollen grains, adjusting photosynthetic lights, and watering the growing plants.

I assisted oncology inpatients by providing snacks and water, answering the call bell, and providing comfort and company. I also assisted the floor staff by restocking the IV totes and the patient supply closet. I transported discharged patients to their cars.

I prepared patients for MRI scanning, which included procedure check-in, metal screening clearance, and informing patients of safety information. I relayed pertinent information from the patient's paperwork to the MRI technician when needed. I comforted patients when they were nervous for the examination.

• August 2019: I shadowed a general surgery resident on surgical oncology rotation and observed surgical procedures.
• August 2022: I shadowed a pediatric anesthesiologist and observed pre-operative preparation and anesthetic management of several different pediatric cases.
• August 2024: I shadowed a physician assistant working in orthopedic surgery and observed knee and elbow surgical procedures.
• June 2025: I shadowed an intensive care unit (ICU) specialist. I attended rounds and observed care of critical care patients. We discussed patient care coordination for various complications in the ICU. I also attended the surgical morbidity and mortality conference.

I performed hostess responsibilities including taking reservations, seating customers, cleaning and resetting tables as needed, and fulfilling carry out orders. Additionally, I acted as a server's assistant by delivering food to tables and ensuring customers were satisfied.
