During my internship, I gained valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of an interior designer. I maintained an organized and tidy work environment and approached each task with an open and eager mindset. I was introduced to some of the industry’s top design software and developed a beginner’s understanding of their use. I was responsible for managing inventory lists, providing detailed descriptions of each item within a project, and participated in client meetings to observe how to effectively manage and facilitate them if needed. Additionally, I had the opportunity to visit several on-site projects and new builds, allowing me to see firsthand how design and construction integrate from start to finish. This experience taught me how to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and reinforced the importance of strong time-management skills.
As lifeguard 1, which we considered the entry level role when it came to the stages of lifeguarding, I was to monitor the pool areas and enforce the safety rules and regulations, as well as be able to respond to emergencies and provide first aid. It was important to maintain constant vigilance over pool patrons, as be able to educate the guest about the pool rules and safety procedures. I also assisted in pool maintenance and cleanliness, and maintaining a professional appearance and conduct.
As Head Lifeguard, I led by example both in and out of the chair, stepping up whenever my team or the community needed me. I made sure to stay prepared and professional while supporting my coworkers and serving pool guests. Whether it was responding to emergencies, helping with daily operations like opening and closing, or keeping the deck area clean, I handled whatever came my way with confidence. I genuinely enjoyed connecting with community members, answering their questions, and tracking down information when I didn't have answers on hand. Building relationships has always come naturally to me—with both my fellow lifeguards and the diverse group of people I served.
