Summary

Olympe de Gouges is an inspiration to me. She went against the gran and expressed what she believed and and what was true. She lost her life for it, but she did it anyways. It is crazy to think that people didnt agree that women are equal, and it is just as crazy to think that some people still believe that. I aspire to be like Gouges and stand up for what i believe in and what is right.

  • In 1788, Olympe de Gouge published the pamphlet Reflections on blacks and the play l’Esclavage des Noirs on the slave trade. Both publications made her, alongside the French philosopher Marquis de Condorcet (1743-1794), one of France’s earliest public opponents of slavery.
