U of Khartoum, Dept. of Community Medicine, Khartoum, Sudan

  • I was part of a two-week visit to Doka, Sudan, which is a rural area in the eastern part of the country. We conducted a free clinic for screening for diabetes. We also provided health education in the community focusing on several topics such as Malaria prevention, general hygiene measures, and Female Genital Mutilation.

  • We participated in a campaign held for the provision of winter essentials like blankets, warm clothing for those in need. We went to relatively poor areas in the capital, distributing supplies and lifting the moods of those who are less fortunate. This was a massively rewarding experience

  • A 2-week medical mission to a rural area on the outskirts of Port Sudan where we participated in the health education of local residents on a number of problems including hypertension, diabetes, Tuberculosis, family planning, and female genital mutilation. We also held a free clinic for provision of primary healthcare services.
