As a Field Electrical Technician, my role involves the installation of devices for Duke Energy’s EnergyWise® Home program across the state of Florida.

I am responsible for driving a company van and following a schedule of appointments to visit customers' homes. During these visits, I install EnergyWise® devices designed to reduce energy consumption during periods of high demand. These devices are installed on air handlers, water heaters, and pool pumps.

EnergyWise® Home is an innovative program that allows customers to contribute to energy conservation while receiving up to $141 annually in bill credits. By participating, customers help preserve natural resources, delay the need for new power plants, and maintain lower energy costs for the community.

During high energy demand periods, the system sends a signal to enrolled devices to cycle off and on, temporarily reducing energy usage. Priority is usually given to water heaters and pool pumps to achieve demand reductions efficiently. These cycles are brief and occur only during limited times.

The installation process is straightforward and customer-focused. After selecting the devices to be included, I schedule an appointment to complete the installation at the customer’s home. The device is typically placed in areas like the garage, utility room, or closet, and the installation is provided free of charge, taking approximately two hours to complete.

As a Amazon Delivery Driver, I have gained extensive experience in ensuring safe vehicle operation and efficient package delivery. My responsibilities included safely driving a delivery vehicle, consistently adhering to road safety regulations, and using a company-provided handheld device to optimize route navigation and manage customer information. I effectively navigated various delivery routes, adapting to different weather conditions to ensure timely deliveries.

My role also required the physical ability to load and unload packages, and I consistently maintained high standards of customer service, striving to exceed expectations by delivering not just packages but also smiles. Working in dynamic environments, I regularly adapted to changes while maintaining a customer-focused approach.

Additionally, I demonstrated the physical stamina necessary for the job, including the ability to get in and out of the van, climb stairs, and walk long distances during 8-10 hour shifts. I performed all tasks efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation, ensuring that safety, adaptability, and customer satisfaction were always top priorities in my work.

This system allows fare negotiation directly with passengers, giving me the flexibility to adjust prices according to circumstances and demand at the moment. This allowed me to offer lower fares during off-peak hours and take advantage of peak times to increase my earnings

The flexible hours were one of the greatest benefits, allowing me to balance my personal and professional life. However, the income could vary each week. Nonetheless, having control over my working hours and fares made the experience highly satisfying.
