My Duties as Central Plant Engineer are to operate, monitor, and maintain the design operation and performance of the buildings operating systems and grounds

• The Building/Plant Engineer will report directly to the Director of Facilities within the Facilities & Global Real Estate Department

• Key operations and maintenance responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• HVAC maintenance and operations

• Cooling tower maintenance

• Water treatment systems

•Air handler operations and maintenance

• Boiler systems

• Air balancing

• Domestic water supply repairs and troubleshooting

• Sewer system analysis and repair as necessary

• Electrical support and distribution systems

• Re-lamping/ballast replacement

• lighting system retrofits

• Emergency generators inspection and start up documentation

• Power supply system maintenance and troubleshooting

• Prepare, maintain, and regularly review logs for repair, service, and operation of all equipment

• Provide the Director of Facilities with copies of engineering logs and reports as required or necessary

• Provide the Director of Facilities with recommendations for improvements or ideas on increased efficiency in the operation of all systems related equipment

• Required to generate reports on the operation of building systems, budget impact items, and upcoming projects as required

• Coordinate vendors, construction, and various projects as assigned

• Oversight of any contractors, vendors, service providers, and their personnel working at or on Campus

• Interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, shop job orders and, process sheets.
• Use a variety of ARC and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as foundations, cable collars, cable/pipe/vent hangers, cable tubes penetrations, studs, etc.
• Perform related task such as thermal cutting (PLASMA or TORCH) and grinding.
• Have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures such as measuring , laying measurements, fitting.
• Assign work to qualified personnel.
• Train new shop personnel on machinery, tools and test equipment required for quality construction of products.
• Hot Work done mostly on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations
• Rig Heavy Equipment for installation
• Heavy Mechanical Work

• Read and followed blueprints and weld diagrams.
• Used jigs, fixtures and tools for assembly of parts and components.
• Made steel form parts using various cutting equipment and welded part together per specifications.
• Deposited intermittent tack welds for fit-up and alignment of work assemblies.
• Welded structural and pipe components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
• Welded fabrication materials, continuously checking for safety and quality.
• Prepared workpiece edges by grinding, cutting, buffing or bending to verify snug fit.
• Prepared material surfaces for welding by removing scale, rust or other foreign matter.
• Adjusted weld machines to correct settings for precision and waste reduction.
• Produced work using appropriate welding techniques, metallurgy knowledge and engineering requirements.
• Aligned and clamped workpieces using rules, squares or hand tools.
• Positioned and clamped workpieces together and properly assembled in jigs and fixtures.
• Positioned and secured workpieces using hoists, wire and banding machines or hand tools.
