- Last semester, I volunteered at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I help out in the CT and MRI units. I enjoyed being a member of the team in a fast-paced environment and meeting so many different people.
- Last semester, I also volunteered to help the hospital with a Pediatric Emergency Drill. During this drill, I followed the emergency responders in the situation and recorded things they completed well and other aspects they could improve on.
- Last year, for both semesters, I volunteered in the Neiman Lab located in the Biology Building East on campus. The PI is Professor Maurine Neiman and I gained new knowledge surrounding research skills and networking.
- Partook in the Eastern Iowa Airport Drill; We pretended there was a plane crash to test the emergency responders on how they handled the situation.
- I job shadowed at Spring Park Surgical Center in Davenport, IA, under Patrick Kelsall, a CRNA. Working in a hospital setting surrounded by hardworking individuals made my passion for the medical field grow stronger. My dream is to work in this setting and to grow my medical knowledge from the environment and the people around me.
