I am a dedicated professional proudly offering more than 20 years of nurse midwifery expertise in an Iowa-based hospital after 10 years as a staff nurse in labor & delivery in Arizona & Colorado. I continue my career as a Certified Nurse Midwife promoting compassionate care and a warm demeanor coupled with holistic childbirth options. I was instrumental in keeping hospital-based midwifery care in the Des Moines, Iowa area. I perceive each of my nursing degrees added another stratum to my personal learning and development as a nurse. Additionally, I added a nurse educator certificate to my DNP goal to participate in the instruction and guidance of future nurses and nurse midwives. I am eager to grow the midwifery profession in the United States in any capacity. I feel midwives can be predominant to improve this country's poor maternal statistics of morbidity and mortality rates.
