Interned through Eastside High School’s Medical Skills Program four times a week for twelve weeks.
Skills acquired during this time: phlebotomy (outpatient and inpatient services), clinical laboratory support/ customer service, histology/ cytology preparation, blood component modification, and departmental support.
Admissions : check people in and out. Make appointments for patients. Help families find their loved ones. Get signatures from patients when they come from different hospitals. appoint patients where they need to go when they need help finding an area they're not familiar with.
Food and Nutrition: two weeks training based on what type of meals a patient eats. How it's important to know what a patient is allergic to. In the kitchen and cooked for patients. Helpful menus, silverware heading to help make a patient's order.
