Serving as the Correspondence Analyst in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management (AS/LM), I am widely recognized as the correspondence expert throughout the Department. My role in receiving and promptly distributing, tracking, and processing materials along with a careful review of documents are critical to the success of AS/LM's oversight and responsibility and its contribution to sound, consistent, and thoughtful land management policies. During the 2009-2010 performance rating period, I processed over 1200 incoming documents and over 350 Federal Register Notices for review and comments within AS/LM. My careful review of incoming materials ensures their prompt and appropriate distribution, maximizing the opportunities for meaningful review. When time-sensitive materials have been received late in the workday, I willingly and conscientiously worked beyond core hours to ensure timely distribution and processing. At times, it has been necessary to track and retrieve materials that were reviewed by the Assistant Secretary to confirm the administrative record for significant matters. At other times, I have been asked to provide information about the path a document has taken during the surname process. During such times, my meticulous, effective, and impeccable record keeping is most apparent, and invariably results in the efficient and accurate retrieval of relevant documentation and information. Without exception, the materials and information have been promptly retrieved and are comprehensive and complete, contributing to a thorough and reliable record. In 2007, the automated correspondence tracking system that relies for monitoring and archiving AS/LM-reviewed materials was comprised as a resulted system failure. Due to my well organized record keeping and my diligence and perseverance, I was able to restore the lost data manually, performing this task while simultaneously meeting the daily correspondence tracking needs of the office. The high volume of written materials submitted to the AS/LM corridor for review represents some of the most significant policy priorities of the Administration. The proper distribution and tracking of these materials have been integral to the ability of the Assistant Secretary to effectively accomplish the office's oversight responsibilities.
