Special Educator, Started Grades 5 - 6, moved to Grades 9 - 10 and spent my last 6 years Grades K - 4. Responsibilities: Case management to include comprehensive evaluation, IEP development, curriculum modification, individual and small group instruction, collaboration and consultation with content area classroom teachers. For students with behavioral challenges, writing behavior plans, supervising individual paraeducators, working with local mental health office staff and SRS staff to create and implement coordinated treatment plans. Initiated a work group to adapt 7th grade math curriculum, Connected Mathematics, for a diverse group of learners in the classroom. Met weekly with math teacher(s), curriculum director, other special educator and paraeducator to modify weekly lesson plans, activities, tests, portfolio problems, and homework for the students on IEPs. This group was very successful. It re-integrated two students back into the classroom and developed a nice working partnership between the math teacher(s) and the special educators.
