Conducts medical case findings, screenings, and referral activities related to the health needs of students. 2. Refers parents of pupils needing medical care or welfare assistance to appropriate private or community resources. 3. Monitors and aids in the prevention and spread of communicable diseases in the school setting according to guidelines established by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and under the direction of the local health department. 4. Serves as a health education resource person to staff and students. 5. Provides health counseling services for guardians and school personnel. 6. Assists in identification of safety and health hazards on school sites. 7. Maintains a health record for each student. 8. Informs teachers of physical or health liabilities of students, and designs and implements individualized health plans to meet individual health needs of students when warranted. 9. Provides emergency nursing service for sick or injured students at school. 10. Notifies guardians of students about illnesses, physical impairments/disorders, and potential health problems; provides health counseling directed toward the pursuit of appropriate action. 11. Prepares and distributes health topic bulletins to students, staff members, and guardians. 16. Confers with family medical advisors as indicated and modifies student healthcare plans accordingly. 17. Attends student focused meetings such as IEP meetings, section 504 meetings, and parent conferences. 18. Follows established policies and procedures for reporting mandated incidents such as child abuse, substance abuse, harassment, and violence. 19. Prepares mandated health and developmental workups and updates on all special education students. 20. Interprets health and developmental evaluations to parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals directly concerned with the student, including members of the IEP team, and provides appropriate follow-through. 21.
