  • Monitor on-duty dispatch operations to ensure compliance with established policies/procedures and readiness in providing the highest possible level of service to the public and internal department support.
  • Analyze dispatching practices and performance to identify staff training needs and recommend improvements to the Operations Director.
  • • Administer all EMD/EFD Quality Assurance and dispatching/call taking quality assurance as identified through Dakota Communications Center policy, procedures or as directed by the Operations Director.
  • • Collaborate with partners to promote the exchange of information among the various shifts and assignments and keep the Executive Director and/or Operations Director apprised of matters occurring during the shift.
  • • Assist in the development of and maintain a thorough working knowledge of department operating policies, procedures and practices required to effectively perform this position.
  • • Supervise staff performance and support team development through coaching and feedback, evaluations, , and corrective or disciplinary measures for unsatisfactory performance.
  • • Recognize staff for their contributions, performance, and work ethic.
  • • Liaise with the command staff of Dakota 911 member agencies to manage the deployment of public safety resources.
  • • Coordinate the call out of support personnel, when necessary, to maintain continuity of Dakota 911 operations.
  • • Assist in BCA audits of Hot files as required. Ensure accurate entry of stolen/lost/missing/felony entries. May act as BCA assigned Terminal Agency Coordinator.
  • • Maintain proficiency in all tasks, functions, and duties of the public safety telecommunicator to support operations as necessary.
  • • Respond to media inquiries as specified through approved policy and procedure.
  • • Fulfill audio and data requests as needed.

• Answer and respond to incoming calls received in the dispatch communications center and dispatch units including police, fire, ambulance, and other emergency personnel to emergency and nonemergency situations.

• Retrieve information on driver’s license, vehicle registration, warrants and other pertinent information from local, state, and federal computer information systems.
• Contact emergency service organizations, public works crews and utility companies as directed.
• Enter, process, and retrieve information from the computer system as needed or requested.
• Efficiently and effectively operate communication center equipment and technology. Document and report malfunctions of equipment and software applications on a timely basis to supervisor or technical staff.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned.
