• Developed News Literacy course in 2011, among the first of its kind in New Jersey that received national and international media attention. News Literacy course voted in 2018 as a requirement for most Communication majors.
• Developed a certificate in Journalism & Public Relations for Kean's graduate program in Communication.
• Transformed the student newspaper into a multi-media news organization that received dozens of statewide awards for print, video and photography and was awarded for general excellence in 2020 by NJ College Press Assn.
• Developed and oversaw a partnership TAPinto.com, a hyper-local website where students covered local government and got bylines
• Named Director of Journalism in 2014 responsible for updating and overseeing program concentration in the fast-changing field.
• Maintained up-to-date knowledge of journalism by attending and/or presenting at relevant conferences, workshops, and webinars.
• Published scholarly work including editing a journalism textbook and contributing chapters on News Literacy and DEI in journalism.

• Taught English Composition I & II required courses and Introduction to Journalism
• Faculty adviser for The Torch student newspaper overseeing coverage, story ideas, standards, editing, layout, etc. For the first time, the torch was ranked for general excellence and students won several writing awards.
• Launched and taught online writing classes (2007-08) Received Online Professor Program certificate.
• Active on several committees, including the Native American Heritage Committee and English Composition standards committee.

• Developed ideas and wrote news and feature stories under contract for media and Sunday business editors in the business sections.

Served as adjunct professor at New York University (2004) and Felician College (2005-2006) and Bergen Community College (2005-06).Taught Introduction to Journalism, Mass Media, and English Composition I & II.

• Wrote a weekly column with head shot featured in business called the Pitch, which reported, analyzed and offered a point-of-view on pop culture advertising and media trends.
• Reported and wrote for Business and News sections of paper on staggered daily deadlines. Work included features, breaking news, and news, briefs.
• Spearheaded special projects within the Sunday section, including an investigation into the effect of dangerous infant cradles.

• Selected as acting assistant New York bureau chief responsible for editing and directing coverage from New York.

• Investigated important community issues and adapted quickly to breaking news situations, providing timely and accurate coverage.

• Learned the trade at now-defunct 60,000 circulation daily as a local reporter
