  • Volunteered to for assignment at the Charlottesville, VA. CBOC to run the lab due to an employee shortage.

  • Supports and assists with patient care in a medical group practice. Responsible for rooming patients (pediatrics & adults) in a clinical setting by use of the electronic charting system.
  • Essential job functions includes managing the day to day activities of the medical home team (2 to up to 5 rooming nurses ) and problem solving with the medical team to keep work flow continuous for the physicians ( up to 4 Physicians & a Nurse Practitioner) for pediatric & adult patients.

  • Administration of medication per policy, medication reconciliation, and medication refills. Also perform prior authorizations with patient’s insurance to get patients medications or procedures and tests covered.
  • Assist physician with clinical procedures and patient care.
  • Maintain supplies & medications used in the practice. Also, maintain diagnostic equipment according to manufacturers and OSHA Guidelines.
  • Perform other duties deemed necessary by the practice administrator.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings.
  • Adhere to HIPAA & Joint Commission guidelines and regulations
  • Responsible for performing Vital signs, ECG's, A1C's, Glucose checks, Hemoglobin checks, PT/INR, Urine Dips, Urine Pregnancy test, Step test, Flu A & B test & Lead checks.
  • Perform Blood draws on patients for labs and prepare all lab specimens to be sent to outside lab.
  • Administer breathing treatments to patients in the office when needed.

  • Prepare and fax physician orders for patient such as home health care, Physical therapy & Sleep studies.
  • Triage patient calls to determine if they need to be seen in house by our physicians or be seen at an emergency facility.
  • Answer patients/caregiver calls and emails concerning their medications or health care when it is within my scope of practice and relay patient notes & concerns to the physician either verbally or through the electronic charting system.
  • Equipment certified on: Alere Afinic Asloo A1C Analyzer, Sofia II Analyzer Flu A & B / Strep, Coagucheks System PT/INR, HemoCue HB & Glucose, Clintex Status Analyzer Urine strip tester & Lead care II Testing.

  • Job entailed casing mail, pulling down and delivering mail and parcels to approx. 500 plus customers daily on a set route.
  • Applied and was chosen to train new mail carriers going to Post offices throughout Virginia about once every other month at the postal training facility in Richmond, Virginia. I held this position for 8 yrs. until leaving the USPS in 2015 to pursue my nursing career.
