I was responsible for all County and State Audits, budgets and ensuring compliance with HIPPA regulations for all programs under Healthy Homes and Health Services.
I resigned due to my 84 year old mother had fractured her back. I moved into her home and became her full time care taker. This included her daily personal hygiene, preparing her meals, taking care of all of her finances, cleaning her home and ensuring that she stayed upbeat and happy. Sadly my mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 2023.
Early 2024, I was approached by a family friend who's brother was also diagnosed with cancer. As she now lives in New Mexico she needed a care taker for her brother. I have had this position for a year and a half. Mike is a 71 year old male who lives alone. I take Mike to all of his doctor appointments plus his chemo treatments .I relay all of the information from his doctor to his sister. I clean Mike's house and ensure that he has nutritious meals. As with my mother, I provide Mike with practical and emotional support.
After 34 years of working for an organization that's goal was to assist families become self-sufficient, live in safe and healthy housing and live drug and alcohol free, the decision to resign to care full time for my mother followed by caring for Mike brought me to the decision that in home care service is something that I would like to continue. My people skills plus my genuine care for others makes me a great candidate to work in this field.
