- I have been the Lead tech at the Miami outpatient lab for 1 year. Responsibilities at present job: include but not limited to: inpatient and outpatient blood draw with minimal supervision. These blood draws include but are not limited to routine, stat, glucose tolerance testing, blood cultures and send-out tests. I have been trained to performed drug screening on new employees and random screens on current employees. I currently am the Drug screen trainer for Miami Outpatient lab. I have been trained to follow standard and infection precautions always. I am trained on CPRS and Vista. Proficient in typing and organizational skills to process 150+ patients daily in the outpatient lab. I have also been trained and trained new employees to accession and process all lab at the Broward and Miami labs. I have worked with the Point of Care supervisor to ensure proper supplies are available and QA are completed. I have been responsible for scheduling employees, QA for chemical inventory, ensuring all QAs are completed, maintaining eyewash stations and temperature charts. I communicate with Physicians and nurses to ensure all patients(veterans) have orders placed as necessary.

While at the main hospital I was responsible for drawing blood of both inpatients and outpatients, sometimes exceeding more than 100 patients per day. Was responsible for processing and resulting send-out tests. Trained new personnel and students in all areas of laboratory including but not limited to blood draw procedures, computer knowledge, send-out testing (requirements and processing) and standard infection control procedures. While working at the hospital I was responsible for implementing new quality control procedures and paperwork to ensure proper documentation of all patient specimens drawn and processed. I was also part of a team of laboratory personnel that trained all clinics within the hospital on proper requirements and labeling of specimens to diminish the number of rejected specimens entering the laboratory.
