I have been working in the field of nonprofit accounting since 1989. I continue to work part-time for Community Law Center, Inc. as their accountant but also maintain my position as a contractor. I have scaled back but still function as the accountant for The Loading Dock, Inc. (34 years), Baltimore Theatre Project, Inc. (30 years) and Central Maryland Ecumenical Council (23 years). As the accountant for Community Law Center, Inc.:

  • Assist in development of annual budgets by working closely with department heads to identify cost-saving opportunities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Enhance financial reporting accuracy by streamlining monthly closing process and implementing improved reconciliation procedures.
  • Document cash, credit, fixed assets, accrued expenses, and line of credit transactions.
  • Complete daily cash functions like account tracking, payroll and wage allocations, budgeting, donating, and cash, and banking reconciliations.
  • Provide journal entries and perform accounting on accrual basis.
  • Maintain integrity of general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Review accounts, resolved coding areas, and tracked recurring expenses for accrual entry.
  • Cooperate with senior leaders to create operating budgets and initiate financial planning.
  • Responsible for all areas of grant financial management. Provide annual audit support.
