  • I worked with toddler students and a couple of higher functioning students who had been released from Calif State Hospital in Sonoma, placed in a care center in Woodland. My students ranged from Down syn. Diagnosis, and cerebral palsy, cognitive and neurological disorders. I planned program for each which was carried out by myself and an assistant. Our objective for these students was to learn age appropriate and realistic skills of daily living. We interjected fun, relaxation, music, sensory development (sight, sound, touch, smell) into many activities. We did not have much contact with families as most of these students had been given up to the State and were adjusting to a new environment after leaving State Hospital. I scheduled and directed I.E.P.s and kept daily notebooks on each student.
