• Responsible for gyn oncology patients from initial intake, through diagnosis, treatment and follow up.
• New patient intake: take referral information, schedule appointment, obtain records and pathology reports from outside referral sources and provided patient education regarding initial consult.
• Surgical boarding: coordination with hospital boarder, review pre surgical instructions with patient and family, follow up regarding pre surgical diagnostic tests, lab work and medical/cardiac clearances to insure patient is optimized for surgery.
• Chemotherapy: coordination with outpatient infusion center, follow up to insure orders have been entered into BEACON, patient and family education regarding protocol, potential side effects and management of those side effects, ongoing assessment of patient, including labs and chemo side effects and notifying physician when necessary for further orders.
• Telephone triage.
• Scheduling diagnostic tests: placing order in Epic, obtaining prior auth for test and ensuring test was completed by patient and results seen by physician.
• Coordination of tumor board.
• Coordination with other departments to meet individual needs of each patient, (radiation oncology, home care, interventional radiology).

Working in an ambulatory infusion center.

• Verify physician order.
• Collaboration with referring office staff, pharmacist and other members of multidisciplinary team.
• Obtain IV access either by accessing venous access device (mediport, PICC line) or starting peripheral IV.
• Blood draw and sample collection.
• Verify labs are WNL prior to infusion. If not, contact physician for further orders.
• Ongoing assessment of patient before, during and after infusion.
• Infusing blood products, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, iron, IVIG and hydration.
