Maintain and care for grounds at the NIFC campus.Perform trade and labor work associated with maintaining campus grounds including hardscape areas. Keep campus and monument manicured,lawns cut, grass edges trimmed, plants stked and tied, parking lots clean.

Prune and trim shrubs, trees, and other plants, propagate plants from cuttings, maintains lawn, gardens and memorial bedsi ncluding weeding, pruning, cultivating and trimming of shrubs and trees.

Plans annual planting of flowers, plants and shrubs as well as a program of various types of fertilizers and control fungicides. Transplant plants, selecting best location according to soil conditions and hardiness of plants.

Apply appropriate level of fertilizer according to plant type, soil condition and time of year. Check PH level of soil to insure optimum health for plants. Operate, set and adjust landscape watering system for appropriate soil moisture, (Baseline, using Ipad, desktop and stand alone controllers).

Service, maintain and repair campus irrigation system including irrigation well pump,repair sprinklers, valves, lines, screens, pressurized water water distribution lines and irrigation electrical wiring.

Accomplish deicing, snow removal, sweeping. Operate typical equipment involved in campus operations such as powered commercial lawn mowers,clippers, trimmers, edgers, pumps,as well as hand operated devices such as carts,hand seeders, trimmers,rakes, picks and shovels.

Perform minor repairs to a variety of building components repairs to mobile equipment, perform minor traffic control,security escort.

Operate various vehicles to push, pull, pile, load and haul materials, such as sedans, pickups, riding mower, compact lawn tractor, utility vehicle, golf carts, tele-handler, snow plow, trucks up to 1 1/4 ton and other light equipment used for typical campus type operations.

Knowledge of plumbing tehniques to maintain pressurized irrigation systems. Able to install and repair PVC and ABS plastic,copper and steel pipe fittings. Ability to manipulate various pipe fittings, air vents, pressure regulators, manual and electric solenoid water valves,check valves, strainers, filters and working knowledge of gravity flow water systems.

Knowledge of proper methods of moving plants, how to lay out plants including determining hole size,depth, and soil mixture required.

Knowledge of correct fertilizer needed to maintain desired PH. Knowledge of proper timing for cultivating, moving, trimming, cutting back to enhance the aesthetic value to existing landscape.
