Exceptional two and three dimensional artist, avid hiker, walker, jogger, talented farmer/gardener, enjoy cooking, baking and volunteering at the local food center. Im interested in research about southwest archaeology, and enjoy producing reproductions of museum artifacts found at prehistoric sites including: atlatl, darts, projectile points, tools, etc. for interpretive programs. I also enjoy continuing my native cultural traditions and language through sharing, teaching, and observation.
Im two years into my personal recovery from substance abuse disorder. Through my experiential knowledge, I have become more self conscious to the believe that I have a valued place in the lives of those struggling with substance abuse or mental health disorders as I can identify with these illnesses through my personal struggles, process of recovery, and the failures and successes that I reflect on with gratitude.
I consider myself a survivor, in that the hardest parts of my illness have passed and I am truly enjoying the life that I was meant to live. Most of all I am here to set an example for my peers, that recovery is possible and I am a living example of this process.
To clarify; the gaps in my work history, between 2013 to 2023, represent times I was going through my worst personal struggles with my addictive behaviors. I am honest about my past because I have an illness, with symptoms, and consequences. Furthermore, I can honestly say that these times of "research" were a necessary part of my path that eventually led up to the career goals I am currently setting, to become a certified behavioral health clinician.
I know I can do an exceptional job given the chance, despite my illness, I know I can function in society because I have made the choice to use the tools to manage my addictive behavior, self advocate for the resources available for my recovery, and use to use my talents for self improvement, and the improvement of others. Im more aware of myself and others, goal oriented, and a great team member. I have over forty years experience as a substance abuse survivor and embrace my recovery with a passion, as it has opened up new opportunities, as it has with so many others.
