Operating as a Fire Fighter 1 Trainee/provisional Lead on Aravaipa Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC), I successfully lead module to squad size elements varying from (4) to (8) firefighters, for (8) assignments approximately (112) hours. While assigned this position my duties included determining and scouting direct fireline construction, indirect line prescription for burning operations, implementing desert fire suppression techniques, allocating and delegation of resources during flare ups/spotfires, ensuring quality control of production, utilizing mitigation techniques in hazardous environments, and the safe transportation of crew members. I successfully carried out these while adhering to all standard operating procedures required of said crew.
Assigned as the lead sawyer on Aravaipa IHC Alpha Squad, I dutifully carried out all responsibilities required of this position. The tasks assigned to me included: saw line scouting and implementation, communication of saw tactics during production and suppression procedures, hazard tree felling, hot line production, direct suppression, indirect line construction, burn preparation, and quality control of the saw production in respect to my squad. As the lead saw I was directly responsible for the chainsaw logistical needs, and proper maintenance of the chainsaws on my squad.
At the Prescott Fire Academy, I was assigned as an assistant instructor for the S-212 (Wildland Fire Chainsaws) course. During the course I was tasked to properly instruct basic chainsaw troubleshooting, proper chainsaw maintenance, saw line tactics, felling techniques, bucking techniques, and safety procedures in adherence to the standard operating procedures of the National Wildfire Coordination Group. During my instruction my fellow instructors and I safely certified (20) students as basic fellers and were invited back to be instructors in the upcoming S-212 courses.

As a level A Sawyer on the Veterans Fire crew, we worked nine-day hitches while remaining in the field. Accomplishing arduous hikes up to 9 miles entering and exiting backcountry worksites, consistently working (10–12) hour days.
As a sawyer I displayed the knowledge and competence of felling and brushing techniques including quarter cuts, boring back cuts, double cuts, as well as removing hang ups and directional felling.
On this crew I worked alongside wildland firefighters as well as conservationists to ensure fuel mitigation and forest fire prevention.
