Work History

Grade 4 Student Teacher

Lakewood Elementary
09.2024 - 05.2025
  • From the end of September to December, I observed this class at Lakewood three days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., as part of my field placement.
  • At Lakewood, I worked with the experienced Mrs. Beaudry and learned a ton from her. She has a strong focus on classroom management and employs numerous effective strategies to instill a positive and hardworking learning environment from the very first day of the year. Being in her classroom for nearly the entire school year and completing my student teaching there led me to form some great teacher-student connections that I will never forget, and something I will never take for granted.
  • A couple of highlights from my student teaching experience were that I took over math right from the start of my student teaching portion at Lakewood in late January, and the students' MCA scores were fantastic. We had 20 of our 26 students partially meeting, meeting, or exceeding expectations, and my CT gave me a lot of props for that, since I taught the units on Fractions and Area, which were highly prominent on the test.
  • Another highlight was that I instructed a unit on creating circuits with a wired motor-fan, and every group in the class was able to do this successfully. The end goal was to identify conductors and insulators, as well as determine the components that allow our circuits to function correctly and the fan to operate properly. This was a series of multiple lessons built on each other and took about a week. By the end of this, I gave a 10-point quiz on circuits, conductors, and insulators, and we had every student in class score an 8 out of 10 or better, which was very special to see.

Kindergarten Assistant

Laura MacArthur Elementary
01.2024 - 05.2024
  • Often, Ms. Peck would have me assist her with new versions of lessons and implement them so they are tailored to specific learning objectives. For example, I created lessons to help students learn how to count money, and they had a very positive effect on the students. Parents told us some incredible stories about the kids counting money for them and other similar experiences.
  • Working with Ms. Peck, I focused on finding effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for the kindergarten students. This placement was eye-opening for me and a great learning experience.

Grade 2 Assistant

Pike Lake Elementary School
09.2023 - 12.2023
  • Assisted in classroom management and observed some phenomenal student behavior, which correlated directly to how well my cooperating teacher instructed her classroom. I contributed to creating a positive learning environment where students felt comfortable and motivated to participate actively in lessons.
  • One lesson that stood out to me and correlates directly to my love of teaching was when I designed and facilitated a time-telling lesson for a small group of five students who required additional support, implementing differentiated instruction strategies to address their individual learning needs.
