Work in the Education Department primarily onboard one of the Sea Life Safari Boats.

• Assist guests from queue line to boat and to embark and disembark boat
• Perform net pulls, ready onboard aquarium, smaller holding tanks and air supply tubes for marine life from net pulls
• Support Marine Biologist by recording marine life and environment data collection statistics from net pulls
• Perform “show and tell” onboard of marine life from net pulls by presenting plastic containers for passengers to view and/or interact with marine life as Marine Biologist talks about each and help answer additional questions
• Assist with comfort and care of marine life while in captivity
• Release marine life from net pulls after tours
• Aid guests on island stop over with shell collecting
• Assist with cleaning and resetting trawl net.
• Act as boat mate to ensure guest and team safety
• In addition to working on sea life safari boats, assist Education Department with other educational activities, such as off-site visits and events when weather does not allow boats to go out.

I work at CMA only on the 2nd Thursday of every month due to the distance I live from CMA (300+ miles round trip). I am carrying on the legacy of a much beloved family member, Captain Tom who was their lead captain and passed away in October 2022 from cancer. I immensely enjoy working with the marine animals, the various Marine Biologists, other education staff, boat and team mates, the passengers and being a part of education about preserving the environment and marine life.
