Responsibilities include:

  • Prenatal care, labor and delivery (through Dec. 2014), newborn care, newborn circumcision (through Dec. 2014), 1st assist in OB-GYN surgery, STD testing and treatment, well woman care, problem visits, contraception as well as peri and menopausal treatment.
  • Directed childbirth classes at Star Regional Hospital from 1996-2014 as well as assist with breast feeding education.

In Office Procedures:

  • Limited OB ultrasound, IVD insertion and removal, nexplanon insertion and removal, incision and drain abscess as well as thrombossed hemorrhoids, endometrial biopsy, vulvar and vaginal, cervical biopsy.

Responsibilities included:

  • All nursing functions in labor and delivery including initial assessment, monitoring and recovery of patients during assigned shift, provided patient and family education, administered medication as order by physician (e.g. Magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and insulin drips), performed non stress tests, oxytocin challenge tests, amnioinfusions, and ultrasounds for fetal presentation and cardiac activity.

Continuously observed and evaluated laboring and preterm labor patients in conjunction with other health care team members. Performed placement of internal scalp electrodes. Conducted initial newborn assessment and neonatal resuscitation when indicated. Assisted physician with amniocentesis, external versions, epidurals and placement of inter-uterine pressure catheters. Ensured adequate inventory control levels and provided staff orientation and training.
