Passionate educator and coach with 17 years of teaching experience, and 21 years as a coach at the high school level. I recently finished my 12th year as a head football coach. I'm also an assistant track coach.
I initiated and currently lead Marengo Community high school's strength and conditioning PE classes for athletes. This weight room based class includes instruction of advance Olympic style weightlifting, power lifting, plyometrics, along with agility and speed training. Next, I serve as head football coach, offensive coordinator, receiver and QB's coach. In June of 2017, I overtook the Marengo football program, and finished with a record of 2-7. In 2018 we finished with a record of 9-3, becoming conference champions (6-0) and IHSA 4A Quarterfinalists. Our defense set a school record with 23 takeaways and allowed just 16 points per game. Finally, the 2018 Marengo senior class surpassed all expectations with their 9-3 mark, as freshman this same group was 0-9. More recent highlights include a 2019 team that finished as conference runner-up with a record of 8-3 and qualifying for the IHSA state 4A playoffs. For the 2021 spring season we finished with a record of 4-2. We've had playoff qualifications in 2018,2019, 2021,& 2022. In addition, the last four of the last five seasons I've coached five different receivers that have each set at least one school record. Offensively, our 2018 leading rusher amassed over 1,600 yards rushing and 23 TDs earning IHSFCA All State honorable mention recognition. Other highlights include our 2022 QB passing for over 1,900 yards, rushing for over 700 yards, and accounted for 38 TDs and only five INTs in 10 games.
I oversaw and developed programming and instruction for weight room based physical education at Minooka High School. I was also responsible for teaching and developing a newly founded leadership class in 2016. I worked closely with instructional leaders to develop a highly qualified curriculum in physical education.
I served as head football coach and offensive coordinator from 2012-2016. I was the first ever Minooka head coach to beat Morris HS in consecutive seasons (2013 & 2014). Our team qualified for 2015 IHSA playoffs 8A. As offensive coordinator our QB's averaged 293 yards/game with 37 TDs in a 15 game stretch, leading the SPC (2015-2016). During the off season I lead the strength & speed development for football (November-July) from 2003-2016.
