  • When in Acting Lieutenant capacity, I supervised the juvenile violent crime division which consisted of 4 sergeants, over 30 detectives, and over 50 school resources officers.

Normal Detective Sergeant duties included:

  • Led violent crime investigations related to child homicides, sex crimes against children, child abuse, and internet crimes
  • Incident commander for all critical missing juvenile calls and child abduction cases
  • AMBER Alert coordinator in charge of approving, coordinating, and issuing of all AMBER alerts
  • Selected and supervised digital forensic officers and representatives assigned to the N.M. F.B.I Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory for the Albuquerque Police Department
  • Represented the Albuquerque Police Department in the N.M. Internet Crime Against Children Task Force
  • Planned and organized plain clothes arrest operations, search warrant executions, tactical operations, and surveillance operations related to violent crime against children investigations as well other felony crime
  • Through a city partnership with the Sandia National Laboratories, I developed an internet safety program for children and parents and oversaw the implementation of the program throughout the city of Albuquerque. This entailed instructing children at various schools throughout the Albuquerque Public School System (over 100 schools). I also conducted train the trainer classes for others to continue providing instruction of this program throughout the city.
