As a foreman at Fania Ive expanded my career and knowledge. My job requirements have lead to me learning about commercial and flat roofing as well as sloped roofing. With a multitude of skills I was quickly chosen to work with our service department and commercial team when available where I learned installation/repair of such things as: -Liquid applied roof membranes( Gaco, Kemper and GAF) -Single ply roofing ( EPDM, TPO, PVC,Torch down and cold process)
-BUR (repairs/maintenance only)
This expanded experience has led to me becoming very successful with first attempt leak resolution.
Roofer/Contractor. Started out by volunteering to rebuild a home for a family member who lost everything but the structure of her home to hurricane Sandy. With help from my brother, father and cousin we successfully brought her home back to life. Everything from framing, flooring kitchen, bath drywall ,roofing, siding, windows, finish carpentry to decks and doors. Near completion of this project in spring, the neighbors began to make their way back into town through the ruins of what once was. Upon seeing my work, several of these neighbors began to hire me to bring their homes back as well which i did for nearly 2 years until i found Fania roofing which was more suited to my specialty
This is where I started my professional roofing career. As a new hire i was shown basic bends, counter flashings and thruwall flashings. I took to it and my abilities were quickly recognized. I made journeyman in just over 2 months and after only a year I was a foreman off and running jobs. working side by side with owner Mike Bregenzer I learned roofing from the bottom up. from tear off to underlayments flashing details, copper, slate, cedar shake , tile and asphalt shingle installation/ fabrications and repairs . Often I worked closely with commercial roofing crews fabricating and installing copper thruwall flashings, counter flashings and coping which is where I first started learning about installation of flat roof materials. These included Sarnafil, Hypalon, Epdm, Tpo and builtup/ slag roofs. Union standards kept us from working with those at the time. Although most of my time here was spent creating custom copper roofs and decorative copper pieces that adorn Princeton University and surrounding schools and churches. I learned time management skills, crew management skills , project documentation and safe work practices.
Truck driver delivering insulation for both residential and commercial projects. Learning safety and insulation values here were a big step in my future roofing career. Understanding insulation and things such as air flow, ventilation, and condensation are key in deciding on proper roof application and leak investigation.
