Raised in Defiance Iowa. Graduated from Harlan Community High School in Harlan Iowa. Attended Des Moines Area Community College and Iowa Western. Employed at the Douglas County Department of Corrections since January of 1991. In 1992 Joined the United States Navel Reserves. Left Douglas County with standing orders from the Navy. Stationed at NAS Whidbey Island and deployed with VAQ-141 on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Worked in the Aviation Structural Mechanics division repairing EA-6B prowlers. Supported operation Desert Storm Returned to Douglas County in November of 1994. In 1996 joined the Iowa Army National Guard in Council Bluffs, tow gunner with the 168th Co B Honorable discharged in 1998. Promoted to Sergeant at Douglas County in 2001. Douglas County is a 1200 bed corrections facility. Floor supervisor, in charge of an average floor population of 250 inmates and 6 Officers. Trained in PPCT tactics (Expertise in using self-defense techniques), Crisis Intervention Team, First Aid and CPR. Supervisor in Booking. In 2003 placed in charge of the Key and Tool and Sanitation Department and currently in this position. In 2005 received certification in detention locks from RR Brinks in Chicago. In 2007 Certified locksmith Certificate from LSI in Lexington Kentucky. 21 Years of Locksmith at the correctional center. Troubled shoot, install and repaired detention and industrial grade locks. Re-pinned cylinders and pick most mortice cylinders. Multiple years of auto entry. Experienced installation and repair professional specializing in different types of locks and associated hardware.
