Raised in Defiance Iowa. Graduated from Harlan Community High School in Harlan Iowa. Attended Des Moines Area Community College and Iowa Western. Employed at the Douglas County Department of Corrections since January of 1991. In 1992 Joined the United States Navel Reserves. Left Douglas County with standing orders from the Navy. Stationed at NAS Whidbey Island and deployed with VAQ-141 on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Worked in the Aviation Structural Mechanics division repairing EA-6B prowlers. Supported operation Desert Storm Returned to Douglas County in November of 1994.
