Work History

Age Group Swim Coach

Lake Erie Silver Dolphins
1990.08 - 2019.08
  • Contributed to the overall growth of the swim program by actively recruiting new members within the local community by attending summer league dual meets and distributing team information. Attended local summer swim league championships in same pursuit.
  • Organized two yearly age-group swim meets (the LESD New Year's Meet in January, and the LESD Minimeet in October) including getting the meets sanctioned, enlisting parental volunteer help, and acting as meet director.
  • Was in charge of the yearly LESD Intrasquad fundraising meet, which raised money for the Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH. Again, was meet director, garnered sanction, organized parents and officials, oversaw the running of the meet.
  • Improved 8&Under team members' stroke techniques, legality, and efficiency through the implementation of effective coaching strategies, stroke drills, part-whole teaching techniques, and positive motivational awards.
  • Implemented goal-setting and motivational exercises with swimmers through the use of a "stars and bars" program using ASCA chevrons and 1 inch golden cloth appliques (purchasable at JoAnn's Fabrics and Michel's stores) as rewards.
  • Taught age group swimmers the rules governing their sport through the consistent use of daily "Quiz Questions" which began each practice (on non-"Time Trial" practice days).
  • Organized 3 yearly social events for the team all age groups invited. We had a bowling outing in the Fall, a Miniature golf outing in the early Summer, and a minor league baseball outing (the Lake County Captains) for late Summer. Either I acted as the contact person or was able to recruit a parent to serve in that capacity.
