My passion for life and love of my family motivates me to be a better person. I bowl, quilt, embroider, paint, knit, crochet, exercise daily, and love the outdoors.

My philosophy in my teaching career is to encourage students to become life long learners in a safe environment, cultivating a curiosity in our world events, geography, cultures, history, etc., through differentiated lessons to meet the learning needs of the student, knowing the habits of the mind are essential to the self discipline and perseverance to personal achievement.
The ASD has provided me opportunities of growth as a teacher by professional development, Fostering Literacy Through Art, Close-up to Washington DC, Anchorage Youth Court, leadership roles as Collaboration Time leader, Professional Leadership Circle leader, and department chair for Language Arts.
Classroom management through modeled behavior with the statement, "No one has the right to disrupt or interfere with the learning or safety environment of others" My respect for my students is a value, I look for ways to make connections with them, and their families Teaching through projects, like the "I am", National History Day, Project Citizen, Close Up, and Literacy Through Art, the students are very proud of their accomplishments Students in my class will learn to present their projects and teach the class what they learned Current events are learned through Cnn 10, World A-Z, and sometimes the ADN I use these to point to make connections to history
