Throughout my career at VAMC I have been a staff nurse on surgical units, Intensive care nursing, Nurse Manager and worked in ER. The last 12 years I worked in a busy Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit. We prepared patients for surgery, kept in touch with family to keep them abreast of their loved ones condition, received them back from Recovery, did post op teaching and scheduled their follow-up visits. 1-2 days post-op would call the patients to check on their condition and remind them of their follow-up visits. I have been retired, gave up my RN license, but need some extra money.
