Clinical Medical Assistant Duties:
• Record and document patient vitals and exam preparation data, including chief complaints, blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, respirations, and pulse.
• Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories (medical, surgical, allergies, and medications).
• Assist providers with in-office procedures such as:
• Suturing, incision and drainage
• Wound care, pap smears
• Dressing changes
• Assisting casts on broken arms, wrists, ankles, and legs
• Perform post-procedure patient education and discharge instructions.
• Conduct lab collections and testing: urine collection, throat/wound/herpes cultures, GC/CT, and Nuswab.
• Follow up on lab and X-ray results; relay messages to patients and coordinate follow-up appointments.
• Conduct diagnostic testing, including EKG/ECG, foot exams, retinopathy screenings, and A1c for diabetic care.
• Administer medications and vaccines per physician’s orders.
• Report to public health departments: CMRs to Fresno County, dog bite incidents to Rabies Control.
• Perform annual physical and vision screenings (Snellen) for school and sports physicals.
• Manage oxygen cylinder and emergency kit quality control checks.
• Conduct beginning/end-of-shift quality control (e.g., glucose meter, urinalysis, hemoglobin A1c, refrigerator temperatures, and hemoccult tests).
• Maintain medical inventory, order DME and medications weekly through Cardinal and McKesson.
Medical Administrative/Receptionist Duties:
• Welcome and check in patients, verify insurance, update demographic data.
• Schedule appointments for follow-up, imaging, ultrasound, optometry, and podiatry.
• Work closely with other MRs to complete pre-registrations and confirm appointments to reduce no-shows.
• Process insurance claims, collect copays, and handle front-desk operations.
• Answer phones and assist with general inquiries.
