I seek to maintain full-time position that offers professional challenges while utilizing interpersonal skills, excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
As a new graduate nurse who is interested in working in the Intensive Care Unit, I have genuine passion for critical care nursing. I am drawn to the challenges and complexities for caring for patients with life threatening conditions and the ICU provides an opportunity to care for some of the most critically ill patients. ICU nursing offers a dynamic and fast paced environment where one can continually learn and develop their skills as it is known for its steep learning curve and as a new grad, I am excited about the prospect of acquiring this advanced knowledge and expertise in critical care. Before I got into nursing school, I worked as a CNA in a step down ICU/ Sub acute unit and I loved it. It made me become even more interested in pursuing my decision to become a nurse. So while I was in school as a student nurse, I have always known that I wanted to work in the ICU as I have genuine interest in caring for patients with complex and life threatening conditions and ICU exposes you to a wide range of medical conditions, advanced technologies and treatments. So I applied to work in Doctors Community hospital as an ICU Nurse extern/ patient care tech and this was towards the last year of Nursing school. As a new grad, I am excited about the opportunity to learn and grow rapidly in my nursing skills and knowledge. Critical care nursing requires quick thinking and problem solving and I thrive in high pressure situations as an individual. I am drawn to the challenge of providing emotional support to patients and families during critical times as I have been in a situation where I had to take care of a sick family member who suffered from a severe stroke. I provided emotional support and adequate care that was expected of me as a grandchild. I found deep satisfaction in knowing that I was making a significant difference in the life of my grandfather who needed support the most at that stage of his life. I like the fast paced and high pressure environment in the ICU. I am a person that pays good attention to details and I enjoy analyzing complex medical situations as it can be deeply satisfying to me.
