  • As full-time clinical assistant in the wound care clinic I provide education on dressing changes, document wounds using photography, as well as measurement data and observations. I am responsible for redressing wounds according to the nurse practitioner’s orders using various types of wound dressings, medications, negative pressure systems, orthopedic healing aids such as off-loading boots, and applying offloading casting systems and compression wraps and stockings. As a part of the wound care team, patients admitted to the hospital are also seen and wounds addressed, which include but not limited to wound vac application, dressing changes, ostomy care, wound documentation and implementation of protocol orders. I have also been in charge of ordering and maintaining the inventory of skin substitutes which includes communication with the various supplier representatives, submitting proper documentation, and follow up on the status during the insurance approval process.
