Accomplishments

  • Led a team as the Lead Mechanic, on the USS Nimitz (aircraft carrier) - high-radiological sensitivity- that led to the team plugging the pressurizer tubes under no radiological controls; the success of this job, under my direction, saved the shipyard approximately $1 million and was completed two weeks ahead of the projected schedule
  • Requested, frequently, to fix complex problems associated with engineering and Radcon, yielding the development of a design process of new tools that helped to maintain ALARA and effectively perform the job in adherence to safety/compliance standards
  • Replaced a NI detector on the USS Albany and the Neutron Test Source on the USS Tennessee (submarine) under high radiological controls in which the newly implemented design process was used to create new tools, advancing continuous improvement efforts
