Incident Scene Safety:
Identifies safety hazards on the scene of incidents
Provides consultation to the incident commander
Provides post incident analysis regarding hazards identified
Ensures OSHA compliance during HAZ MAT and TROT incidents

Participates in the planning, organizing, scheduling, and documenting of shift activities. Assigns tasks to subordinates, provides guidance in their accomplishment. Inspects the work location and all equipment for compliance with county, state, and federal safety regulations, and takes initial action to alleviate discrepancies. Provide staff with ongoing performance-based feedback based on observed and identified skill deficiencies; plans and implements remedial training, and assist in scheduling in-house training for various shifts. Assists the shift commander in identifying the needs of the community and develop public relations programs to meet those needs. As commander of a functional unit, responds to emergency incidents and directs the activities of the crew. Actively participate in fire suppression and rescue missions. Makes decisions and directs subordinates as to the best method for combating fires and coping with other emergency situations including patient assessments, treatment of general medical emergencies, trauma-induced wounds, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
