Current Employment: I am working as floor framer for a Modular Construction Company called WillScot here in Salem Oregon. I am a service tech for the Floor Dept.
My part: Includes reading the blueprints and the cut list and confirming they match before and during each build, running a layout on the rims, assembling and securing joists, block-outs (aka head-outs), inner and outer rims, squaring each floor (12 ft x 60 ft is a common size), insulation, osb sheathing, underlayment, and confirming that everything is in it's proper place before the wall crew assembles their walls and raises them on the floor.
The Process start to finish: is Saw Shop, where the material needed for each dept is cut to length, Floors(us), Walls, Roofs, Assembly(joins roof to walls), all the way down the line to Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Drywall, Siding, and more before each completed Mod (12x60 for ex) is shipped to the customer site to be joined together on top of steel posts embedded in concrete. At the end of this process you will see a Church, School, Fire Dept, Community Library, Training Center, etc
