  • Drill holes and install poles: Maneuver the auger truck to the worksite, operate the hydraulic controls to drill holes of the specified depth and width, and use the derrick to set utility poles in the drilled holes.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections: Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks on the vehicle and equipment, such as brakes, tires, lights, fluid levels, and the auger itself.
  • Handle materials: Load, transport, and unload heavy equipment, tools, and construction materials like gravel and dirt.
  • Coordinate with crew: Work closely with other line technicians and ground workers to ensure all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Site preparation and restoration: Assist with site setup and teardown, including identifying marked and unmarked utilities using dig tickets.
  • Maintain records: Keep a detailed log of hours worked, inspections, equipment maintenance, and other company paperwork.
  • Follow safety procedures: Adhere to all federal, state, and company safety policies, including DOT regulations, when driving and operating equipment.
  • Assist in line work: Provide support during the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical or telecommunication systems.
