I did not work outside the home from 1997 to 2021 but I was not idle. During that time I held many volunteer positions. I homeschooled my sister-in-law through the seventh and eighth grades while she adjusted to a new diagnosis of diabetes I. She went to high school a well-adjusted young woman. I participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk for Breast Cancer and raised $3000. My husband and I formed a small family foundation called, Well of Hope Foundation, in which I was the CFO and a board member. In this position I tracked the finances of the foundation and coordinated with other board members to determine distribution of funds based on grant requests we received. I did volunteer work for the church I was a member of and in these positions I helped maintain supplies for the Sunday School teachers, coordinate the bulletin, teach and support the children's Sunday school program, accompany singing for the children and adults, lead singing for the women's organization, helped support and uplift many spiritually and emotionally through the ministering program, teaching an adult class in a online Zoom format, and working as an ordinance worker in the church's most spiritually sacred space. These volunteer opportunities allowed me to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
