  • I am the only Senior Director reporting to the Head of Business & Planning and supervising 3 distinct teams within the department: Books Financial Planning & Analysis, Journals Financial Planning & Analysis, and the Books & Journals Fulfillment teams. Supervising a total of 8 FTEs plus 2 temps, with 3 direct reports.
  • I directly manage the budgeting and forecasting process for $20M+ in program revenue and work closely with the Director of Business & Planning to manage the remaining $80M in revenue generated by the APA Publications Directorate.
  • Developed a Product Profitability report for all APA Publishing products, presented analysis on the findings, analyzed year-over-year changes, and provided Senior Leadership with an analytical summary highlighting risks.
  • Created imprint-level acquisition P&L to forecast feasibility of new potential publications. Assisted in updating acquisitions process to ensure a comprehensive review of content area, risks, competitive landscape, financial profit/loss is being assessed for each new publication. Following acquisitions, I implemented a birthday analysis to review assumptions and further review strategic efforts.
  • Assessed feasibility of a new distribution partner for Magination Press (APA's Children's book imprint) titles. Provided comprehensive financial analysis to forecast when breakeven will occur. Communicated operational risks and benefits of the merger to Senior Leadership.
  • Improved Institutional Journals subscription processing, adding efficiency, accountability, and standardizing processes. Improvements led to reducing outstanding Accounts Receivable balance from $700K to $250 in one year.
  • Updated manual book returns processing by increasing efficiencies and adding automation, reducing returns backlog from 9 months to 3-5 business days. Leading to enhanced customer relationships.
  • Analyzed books and journals inventory in warehouses, purged obsolete inventory, reducing warehousing fees by $300K per year. Also recommended reducing print runs, saving the organization $1M per year.
  • Managed integration between the title management system and the financial system to ensure customer orders are streamlined, eliminating manual updates and aligning communication of title information across systems. Through integration, reduced impacted staff time spent on manual updates by 20%.
